First performed in 1918 at King's College in Cambridge, England, the service of Lessons and Carols was introduced by an army chaplain who felt that more imaginative worship was needed by the Church of England. This service has become beloved the world over being broadcast live every Christmas Eve day.
At St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Lessons and Carols has become an annual tradition each December in which both the Adult Choir and Children's Choir sing. Clergy and laity read the nine lessons making this a truly church wide service.
